Over the past few weeks, we’ve been focused on how wonderful our differences are and how art is a place we can express those differences. Everything goes, all taste is valid and the key purpose of art is to uplift a space for the sake of the space, but also for the people who use it.
‘Express Yourself’ as a topic is a bit cliched but it’s something I care about a lot, it matters to me that people express themselves. I have built a business on the incredible expressions of artists and so I feel I need to make this personal. As such, I am writing this in the first person. Expression is something I notice. It’s the thing that draws me to creativity, the bit that connects me to it, or turns me away. Expression is ultimately the thing that encapsulates difference.
In honour of that, I thought it was probably a good time to highlight some of the reasons Red T Multiples fits in this category of uniqueness but also highlight some of the wonderful other places out there we can connect with creative expression.
I realised a few weeks into this whole crazy pandemic that my flatness wasn’t coming from less socialising, home schooling or feeling less stable (although they all played a part), it was from being suddenly cut off from cultural stimuli that I had clearly been taking for granted. I would be at exhibitions, concerts, lectures, events every week and suddenly, I was at home, with just as much to do, if not more, but no moments of true connection or deep appreciation of creativity. It’s not just the ‘looking at’ that I need, it’s the whole conversation. In order to reinvigorate this aspect, I started rather frequent virtual visits to museums and attended lectures on great works of art.
One satisfying place I found myself returning to was the Youtube series by the Frick Collection:
Cocktails with a Curator:

A fab resource for nourishing arty chat without the eye roll. Thanks for the recommendation Mum.
I have also been listening to a lot of music. Music is actually my first love and it was through music I found art and so where the two meet is my happy place. Especially when the art is Rothko and the music is Mozart.
Treat yourself to this 10 minute video where two brilliant creatives are brought together eloquently and intelligently. Both such incredible talents at the art of expression.

Red T Multiples was built for us to all be allowed to jump into an art work and extract from it our own joy. Expressing ourselves is about the person we are as individuals, loving that, embracing what makes us tick, getting excited by the creative stimuli that surrounds us. Just one of the many things I love about Multiples is the ability it gives every single person to engage in the opportunity to create. But it’s creating from an existing creation, which is an honour and a privilege and offers such enriching creative value. Something I have benefitted from in these uncertain times. So now it is even easier than before, embrace the joy of creativity and go to work expressing yourself.
